A 24/7 ambulance service was established by the Trust on 14 September 2011 to serve Nowlari, the village where the Trust is based, and the surrounding communities. The service provides reliable and timely medical transportation for individuals who face mobility limitations, financial constraints, or geographic barriers to reaching major hospitals in Srinagar and Baramulla.
The ambulance has safely transferred patients with a wide range of medical emergencies and conditions, including acute trauma (such as suicide attempts and orthopaedic injuries), cerebrovascular accidents (stroke), obstetric and pregnancy-related complications, oncology patients requiring chemotherapy or radiotherapy, and individuals with chronic renal failure or end-stage renal disease requiring dialysis.
This initiative proved particularly vital during the COVID-19 pandemic, when it served as an important complement to the regional healthcare system. The service supported institutions such as SMHS Hospital Srinagar by transporting infected and critically ill patients during a time of exceptional public health strain. It also carried out the solemn duty of transporting deceased individuals, contributing to both the clinical and humanitarian aspects of the pandemic response.
The Trust expresses its sincere gratitude to Mr. Syed Ali, the dedicated ambulance driver, whose unwavering commitment and years of service have been essential to sustaining this life-saving project.
